With impressive ground clearance and sophisticated long-travel off-road suspension, the TRX is purpose-built for high-speed off-road fun. Due to its sheer size, we wouldn't recommend taking the TRX down a tight and narrow road, but the TRX was predictable and consistent in our handling tests.Īs for the TRX's off-road capability, if you prioritize low-speed rocky adventures you might want to look elsewhere. That's a shorter stopping distance than the previous-generation Ford Raptor and considerably shorter than the Jeep Rubicon 392. At our test track, they were capable of hauling the big truck down from 60 mph in only 130 feet. The TRX has been blessed with fairly competent brakes. It's more than happy to dawdle around town until you get a chance to turn it loose down a sandy wash. But the TRX doesn't have to be driven flat out to be enjoyed. The accompanying thunderous exhaust and supercharger whine are just the icing on the cake. That's just as quick as a Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye we also tested. The crew-cab short-bed Laramie's 5.7-liter V8 utterly guzzled gas, but aside from an unusual number of minor recalls, the 20 proved comfortable, capable and trouble-free. However, the Ram's rivals are not parked in a back lot idling with their lights turned off.
